This is a custom high speed intake in 316 stainless steel for Freeman, version 2. It picks up water while the boat is on plane to feed a raw water circuit such as a livewell or washdown.
High speed intakes are mounted below the waterline and stay submerged in use. 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, which gives it better resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion than 304 grades in saltwater. That makes it the preferred grade for through hull hardware.
